As I sit at work away from my ocean comfort, reading my e-mail, sending e-mail, and involuntarily listening to people on the phone … a couple of things come to mind.

What if you could just be nice? Is it really that difficult? I know you find pleasure in being such a bitch, but what if you could be nice? What if, for just one minute, you stopped worrying about covering your ass and actually worried more about getting the job done in a productive, kind, helpful and meaningful way.

People’s attitude’s never cease to amaze me. The level of attitude that is tolerated never ceases to amaze me. Why do they put up being disrespected and why do they have to disrespect people? A wise man once said, you don’t have to respect them, but you have to be respectful. Apparently not everyone lives by that.

I wonder what would happen if they surfed? Of course surfing could be a metaphor for growth and learning in just about anything, but what would happen if they paddled out, turned around, paddled for a wave and got pounded by the ocean? Would they drown? Or better yet, what if they caught a wave and felt the rush of the ocean and the stoke of the ride. Would they relax? Would they punch through the waves? Would it release the lock that holds them to that angry side of life? I wonder….

In the meantime, back in my real world, I must respond to an e-mail that goes something like this….

If so and so does such and such can you confirm that this and that won’t happen? Please confirm by sending a response to this e-mail.

My translation?  If you confirm that what is in this e-mail will or will not happen and you are wrong about it, I will burn you alive with this e-mail that I will keep until I die. Oh yeah, and they cc’d 5 people…..

(slow, deep breath in… hold it… long slow release)
